Eram muitas as freguesias de Lisboa, agrupadas em quatro bairros administrativos, para além dos bairros históricos que constituem muitas dessas freguesias, muito fragmentadas e com profundas alterações desde as reformas administrativas dos séculos XIX e XX e o crescimento demográfico e urbanístico verificado.
There were many parishes in Lisbon, grouped into four administrative districts, in addition to the historic neighborhoods that make up many of these parishes, which are very fragmented and have undergone profound changes since the administrative reforms of the 19th and 20th centuries and demographic and urban growth.
